Clean Grapevine Material for Enhanced Vineyard Health and Integrity
Tuesday March 4, 2025 3:30pm - 4:30pm CST
The selection of the planting stock for a particular vineyard site is one of the most consequential decisions for the production of high-quality grapes. The use of clean grapevines (certified, disease-free) should be an integral part of such decisions because it has a direct impact on the successful establishment of vines, their survival and growth rate, as well as the quality of fruit. Additionally, certified planting stock reduce the presence of detrimental pathogens in newly established vineyards, help maintain vineyard health, and reduce production uncertainties. Information on the production of clean grapevine material in the country and some of the best practices for maintaining plant health and integrity will be provided and discussed.
